College Leadership Curriculum Underway
By: Sue Knaup, Executive Director

In the last issue of the One Street e-newsletter we discussed our program effort for social bicycle businesses which continues to move forward. Another one of our programs is the development of our leadership curriculum for training One Street coaches. This will be a certification course that will train coaches to respond to leaders facing organizational emergencies much like emergency medical personnel respond to health emergencies. We’ve begun working with a local college here, Prescott College, which specializes in leadership training as well as international studies – a perfect fit.

I spent a morning recently with a Prescott College class that is learning about bicycles as a solution to global issues such as transportation reform and climate change. Some of these students are considering assisting with our curriculum development for their senior projects.

Meanwhile I’ve been developing the manual that will accompany the training course. Once the students are onboard we will work through the manual and, once they are comfortable, I will connect them one-on-one with organization leaders around the world who are struggling with organization and campaign issues. Through my supervision and the student’s feedback from their experiences with the organization leaders, we will refine the curriculum and manual for full launching of the certification program.

Resources Highlights
This month’s highlights can also be found in our Resources pages at www.onestreet.org . Both have been around the block a time or two but we can’t “bear” to think you might have missed them:

Hot Topics – Fundraising
Over the past month we’ve had an unusually high number of requests for fundraising advice, from here in the States and in Europe. All of these requests boiled down to learning how best to make the ask to potential funders. So we put together our new tip sheet: Fundraising Tips – The Direct Ask. If your palms get the slightest bit sweaty when you think of asking for a donation, make sure to take a look.

Supporter Spotlight – AIM - Arizona Internet Marketing
AIM - Arizona Internet Marketing was one of One Street’s earliest contributors, donating much of their time building our web site and helping with our e-newsletter. If you’ve been enjoying these offerings, give a cheer for these guys. Matt and Trish Fay are bicyclists and big supporters of bicycling in the Prescott area. When Matt found out what One Street works for, he could hardly contain his enthusiasm. That passion and commitment shows through in what they created for One Street. If you’re looking for help with a web site and internet marketing, we highly recommend AIM. Find them at www.aimaz.com .
